A Natural Sequence of Socio-Technical Transition Pathways

چکیده
This paper provides a simplified analysis of possible sequences transition pathways to deepen understanding scenarios. The exhibit ranking succession in which the transformation pathway (T) is first sequence terms both landscape pressure (PL) and niche maturity levels (γn). next along two variables PL γn reconfiguration (R). Beyond R, substitution (S) significantly higher whereas de-alignment/re-alignment (D/R) PL. on among pathways, namely S D/R depends difference rates change (i.e. PL/t) γn/t) R (PL.D/R – PL.R) (γn.S γn.R). EXPLORING FUTURE TRANSITION PATHWAYS The Socio-Technical Scenario approach
Developing a sustainable energy system is an enormous challenge. Despite many reports that suggest otherwise the main challenge does not seem to be of a technical nature: with proven technologies it is possible to design an energy system that produces only a fraction of the emissions (CO2 as well as pollutants) of the current system (IPPC, 2001). Rather than a lack of good technical solutions t...
متن کاملTowards a Theory of Socio-technical Interactions
Technology enhanced learning environments are characterized by socio-technical interactions. Socio-technical interactions involve individuals interacting with (a) technologies, and (b) other individuals. These two critical aspects of socio-technical interactions in technology enhanced learning environments are theoretically conceived as (a) appropriation of sociotechnical affordances and (b) st...
متن کاملPiloting Socio-Technical Innovations
Introduction Information and communication technologies (ICT) have been a major enabler of change in the world of business, public administration and society at large during the last decades. We work and live differently since ICT have permeated organizations and private life. Not surprisingly, the power of leveraging ICT for socio-technical innovation has been at the forefront of information s...

In 2011, now 20 years after M. Weiser’s “The Computer for the 21st Century” (1991), the vision impacting the evolution of Pervasive Computing is still the claim for an intuitive, unobtrusive and distraction free interaction with omnipresent, technology-rich environments. In an attempt of bringing interaction “back to the real world” after an era of keyboard and screen interaction (Personal comp...
متن کاملSocio - Technical Systems
Computer systems have long been seen as more than just mechanical systems (Boulding, 1956). They seem to be systems in a general sense (Churchman, 1979), with system elements, like a boundary, common to other systems (Whitworth & Zaic, 2003). A computer system of chips and circuits is also a software system of information exchanges. Today, the system is also the human-computer combination (Alte...
